UK IT companies are ahead of their European counterparts in environmental consciousness, according to a new poll.
Over 70 per cent of the British executives interviewed rated recycling technology and reducing waste as their top green priority, reports Computer World UK.
These figures made it the number one country to prioritise these initiatives.
On the subject of virtualisation, which is known for its green qualities, most British companies said that cost stood in the way of them going ahead with it, reports the website.
The executives said they recognised the green benefits of a virtualised server but 55 per cent were discouraged by the price.
Belgium came ahead of Britain on efforts to measure carbon footprints, but 70 per cent of executives were still interested in making the move.
The research was commissioned by the BEA European Sustainable IT Survey, by Vanson Bourne and involved the financial services, telecoms and public sectors, said the website.
