Motor racing circuit Brands Hatch has completed a major telecom infrastructure upgrade, it has been announced.
The venue has installed a new IP network as part of a £1 million overhaul of its IT systems, Computing magazine reports.
Among the benefits that have emerged from the development are wireless services for both race teams and the media to use on race days and upgraded ticketing facilities.
The head of IT at Brands Hatch, Matthew McGory, said the addition of three new servers had improved the reliability of the circuit's internet connectivity.
He said: "We have moved from email going down for four hours a week to a situation where it has gone down for just three hours since January."
Mr McGory added that the next step may be the introduction of a wireless network by the time the race season starts in the spring.
Located in Kent, Brands Hatch will host events such as the British Touring Car Championship, the FIM World Superbike Championship and the A1 GP World Cup of Motorsport during 2008.
