Small to medium businesses (SMBs) have reported they are not happy with the broadband support services they receive.
A survey from Quocirca has found satisfaction with managed bandwidth services is low, as firms reports faults are not fixed quick enough.
SMBs said the services they were promised on signing up were not provided and they did not receive sufficient support from ISP call centres.
As one-third of businesses questioned said they now operate online, many said rapid fault-fixing was important but was not often carried out.
Rob Bamforth, principal analyst at Quocirca, said: "Most organisations can't afford to lose their internet service for any length of time. It definitely causes people to switch providers."
Many companies called for a real compensation system, whereby they are reimbursed for business lost, rather than just the connection fees while their service is down.
A survey by Omniboss has recently found companies do not have the budget to increase their managed bandwidth services, despite their firm needing it, reports ITPro.
