Businesses will get more features and better efficiency in voice over IP (VoIP) when Avaya upgrades its IP telephony gear, according to a source.
The improvements will include a new version of Avaya Communications Manager with embedded SIP, which makes a separate SIP sever obsolete, reports Computer World UK.
In another move to improve performance Avaya has included SIP trunking, so IP multimedia traffic is redirected when networks become congested.
Avaya has also added SIP to the Video Telephony Solution to enable up to six users to create video calls and conferences as simply as they would for a voice call, said the computing website.
The phone which goes with the new software, Avaya Agent Deskphone 16CC, can receive SIP messages directly without the need for call servers, making the system more simple.
The company claims that from100 to 36,000 single users can use the Communication Manager technology on a single system.
