Top bosses are increasingly adopting best practice frameworks when outsourcing their IT provision.
A global survey of 370 chief information officers (CIOs) by Dimension Data found that outsourcing is becoming a more strategic decision, with more taking on board the IT Service Management framework.
The survey also found that 20 per cent of the CIOs would prefer to abandon the internal management of IT service continuity and change management and opt for outsourcing instead.
Dimension Data warned that if companies are going to increasingly adopt the practice of outsourcing they need to equip themselves with how to manage complex relationships.
A third of CIOs said they use the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) framework, which Scott Petty, services executive at Dimension Data, described as bringing "discipline and a structured approach to IT Service Delivery".
It was recently reported that IT bosses should not cut costs when outsourcing as they put the contracts at risk of failure.
