The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) is looking for a
managed IT services suppliers amounting to £3 billion.
Across five years, the governmental department wants to overhaul its managed IT services and is seeking suppliers to do so.
The department must wait until 2010 for existing contracts to expire, after which it plans to replace desktop and
datacentre management contracts.
Joe Harley, the DWP's chief information officer, said: "We are reviewing our future plans for our major
IT service contracts as our principal existing contracts expire during 2010-11."
He added that the firm is "committed" to ensuring maximum value and the best service for the public.
The IT department of the office announced plans earlier this year to increase spending on some services, including £208 million over the next three years on the Child Support Agency system.
Recently the DWP initiated server consolidation and a refresh of all laptops and desktops, which is set to save £1.5 billion by 2010, reports Computing.co.uk.
