A UK data centre has ensured that GP practices in Lincolnshire and Yorkshire have been able to maintain their business continuity despite floods which have seen parts of England submerged under feet of water.
At least ten GP surgeries had PCs badly damaged by the floodwater, but thanks to the remote data storage policy of Computer Science Corporation (CSC), the medical practices should be able to continue without losing data.
The surgeries which used TPP's SystemOne software will be able to pick up where they left off, using current patient notes to keep appointments as soon as their practices are physically ready to open.
Leigh Donoghue, CSC's primary care director, told E-Health Insider: "This is one of the benefits of new NHS computer systems. Practices can be sure that their data will be sent to a secure data centre at all times and they can gain access to it at all times, whatever the weather."
