The date Microsoft is due to release Service Pack 3 (SP3) for Windows XP has been leaked, with IT professionals now expecting it next week.
A website, Neowin.net, says it has obtained information which suggests the release will happen on April 29th through Windows Update.
It has also been reported that MSDN and TechNet subscribers will receive the update a week earlier, on April 21st.
The website has said that the automatic update will not be available until June 10th.
So far Microsoft has only previously said that it expects the release to be in the first half of this year.
The update will include all of the elements of Service Pack 2, plus some additional features, including a 'black hole' router detection.
Microsoft's recent release of Vista's Service Pack 1 experienced many problems on the way.
Initially the update's release was delayed, then it was released too early and contained a fault which caused a constant reboot of computers.
