Deloitte has signed a three-year contract with Nortel to provide it with videoconferencing across the world.
The firm has signed the deal, which is thought to be worth millions of dollars, and will now see members across 140 countries be able to sign up to the services.
Rick Sullivan, national director for business services at Deloitte Canada, said Nortel was chosen as few other vendors offer the managed VoIP services globally.
He stated the deal is intended to make the service more reliable, as in the past it has been hit or miss, adding: "We believe a managed service was the route to take".
Reasoning behind the adoption of managed VoIP services was not just based on saving travel costs, but also on reducing the "wear and tear" on travelling employees.
Deloitte can also reduce its carbon footprint by 4,200 tonnes in the move.
In other managed VoIP news, Skype is attempting to crack into the small to medium enterprise market by creating business-specific tools for its service.
