Web business managers are considering major e-commerce platform upgrades, according to a new study.
According to Internet Retailer, research carried out by IT industry analyst Forrester indicates one out of every four executives is considering the initiatives.
Representative for the firm Brian Walker advised companies looking to develop their e-commerce platforms to keep business cases simple, focus on customer value and educate senior management about e-commerce, the news provider reports.
Addressing the issue of putting together a business case for the developments, he added: "Create a team of strong players from finance, IT, network operations, business operations and marketing who can help you identify opportunities."
Mr Walker went on to say e-commerce sites are unique as investments as they reflect the core aspirations, goals and strategic imperatives of companies.
Earlier this week, online video community YouTube announced the launch a new e-commerce platform in collaboration with iTunes and Amazon.com.
