Fortinet has challenged Jupiter's claim that it has the fastest firewall, stating it has been shipping similar speeds for the past two to three years, a source reports.
The former firm has revealed it feels "very comfortable" asserting it has the fastest speed in the world, after recently launching a ten-gigabit Ethernet solution which has a performance of 182Gbps, the Channel website reports.
Charles Cote, Fortinet's country manager for Australia and New Zealand, stated: "The system that we currently have scales to in excess of 150Gbps, more likely 182 Gbps within one chassis."
The statements come after claims from Juniper that it is running a more flexible system from a single firewall instance, stating it can split to two independent offerings of 60Gbps.
Juniper responded to Fortinet's claims, telling the source the firm "has not produced any groundbreaking technology" and has replicated other firewalls on the market.
Two other companies, Oracle and Intel, have recently teamed up to improve encryption technologies for cloud computing and virtualisation software. |
