Global telecoms contracts for managed services in the first half of the year amounted to $2.87 billion (£1.44 billion), according to analyst firm Ovum.
The leading companies were AT&T, followed by Verizon, BT Global Services and T-Systems international.
Each deal was estimated as being worth between $3 million (£1.5 million) and $10 million, and AT&T reported securing 12 global service deals, Verizon 11, and BT Global Services ten.
AT&T, which in July alone announced six new contracts, reported deals including deploying a virtual private network (VPN) for Metso, IP VPN for Norgren across 79 distributed sites worldwide and setting up a multiprotocol label switching (MPLS) network for contact centre manager Alorica.
The majority of the deals do not include managed IT and applications though, with most of the contracts focusing primarily on securing global connectivity.
According to Ovum, multinational companies prefer to make their contracts for advanced managed services on a national level, instead of securing global arrangements.
