IT bosses are more concerned about the security threats posed by mobile phones and remote working, according to a recent survey.
The Computing Technology Industry Association has reported that more than half of chief information officers and security officers are more concerned about mobile security compared to last year.
Many said simple operating errors like unauthorised or misuse of the devices concerns them, in addition to the possibility of loss or theft of the device and phishing attacks.
Laurel Chivari, vice-president of marketing and communication, said: "As global trends of workforce mobility and decentralisation place a greater strain on IT security infrastructure, it is becoming increasingly more complex for IT departments to safeguard information."
Restricting viruses, worms and spyware is still the main concern for the top IT bosses.
Another security issue for companies was remote access to networks, with almost three-quarters allowing it but only 39 per cent providing security training on how to use it.
A survey earlier this week found that smartphone use by businesses was leading to a higher security threat as mobile phone theft rises.
