Spending on IT is likely to remain buoyant and tip inflation, despite the current economic uncertainty, according to a new study.
The National Computing Centre (NCC) conducted the research which showed that almost 60 per cent of respondents predicted an above inflation spend on IT over the next 12 months.
Construction and health sectors are expected to spend the highest, with the average expenditure being reported at 4.9 per cent.
Stefan Foster, managing director of NCC, said: "IT purchasers are remaining confident about future economic conditions; they are making sure that their businesses have the right technology to deliver growth over the coming years, but they are not over optimistic."
Spending on offshore outsourcing is set to grow, with 26 per cent currently offshoring, compared to 31 per cent who say they will in the next year.
Microsoft is to be a main beneficiary of the increased spending, the study found.
The NCC aims to support IT businesses and professionals by offering impartial advice and best practice standards.
