A new survey into IT investment by a leading analyst firm has identified the key areas that market-leading IT firms have focused their recent development and planning strategies on.
When asked to pinpoint their top priority areas of IT investment by Ovum, IT managers at 300 top firms identified development of consolidation and virtualisation technologies as a key area for recent growth.
Many others of the companies questioned also noted implementation of service oriented architecture (SOA)-based applications to promote business flexibility and investment in automated IT management tools as other important areas that they had looked at in recent months and years.
Mary Johnston Turner, the author of the report and Ovum vice president said: "These highly effective organisations have laid a lot of groundwork over the last couple of years by implementing virtualisation, SOA and ITIL.
"They are also in the best position to take advantage of emerging collaboration and enterprise social software solutions."
Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) recommendations require broad-based implementation and offers a guide for best practices in delivering IT process management facilities to firms. |
