IT workers looking for new jobs, despite good salaries

News Article - Thursday, May 1, 2008 11:43
Filed under: Industry news
Many IT professionals are looking for a new job, despite being paid 30 per cent more than the average UK worker.

Research from the Computer People found that most workers in the sector will receive a 4.5 per cent pay rise.

The company reviewed 5,000 IT professionals in the UK and found the average pay for the sector is £35,160, around £10,000 more than the average pay for other industries.

However, despite this many workers are looking for a new job, with almost half "keeping an eye on the market", to see what opportunities are available.

In addition, 39 per cent said they were actively looking for a new job, with 27 per cent expecting to move in the next three months.

Some will be looking further afield, with 65 per cent saying they would consider a position in another country.

A survey recently revealed that IT professionals kept their New Year's resolutions to find a new job, with almost a third succeeding.
