One insurance firm has adopted Microsoft Sharepoint software in order to provide its customers with more information on the business.
According to NetworkWorld.com, many firms use Microsoft Sharepoint solely for internal facing reasons, rather than on external facing sites.
However, Allied has adopted the technology in order to give customers more information about their dealings with the company and increase visibility for clients.
The website reports Ira Schwartz, the chief information officer of Allied North America, as saying correspondence with customers through a mix of emails, phone calls and spreadsheets made it hard for a unified view of the relationship to be seen.
He adds: "We wanted to make everything more transparent for our customers."
Mr Schwartz stated that Microsoft Sharepoint was the ideal option for the firm as it is user-friendly and is compatible with much of the company's existing software.
An update was recently issued for Microsoft Sharepoint, with the search function having been improved.
