Managed security solutions should not impact on business efficiency, it has been claimed.
According to IT security provider BeCrypt, government organisations and their business partners ought to make use of centrally-managed data security solutions that are transparent to the user and do not therefore impact on business productivity.
The company went on to say such capabilities will become essential in order to comply with data handling recommendations.
Marc Hocking, chief technology officer at the firm, said: "Whilst it is of the utmost importance that personally identifiable data held by public bodies is securely protected, it is equally important to be able to share data so that better and more personalised services can be delivered to citizens."
Last week, ComputerWorldUK reported most companies in Britain admit they cannot stop confidential data being leaked by email, with 94 per cent of organisations stating their email system allows people to send sensitive information to outside parties.
