Seventy per cent of all IT workers expect a pay rise in their salary this year, with three-quarters saying they would recommend the career to their children, according to a new report.
Research from the IT Job Board and recruitment marketing agency Barkers also found that 86 per cent thought they would find a new job in the next three years.
Alex Farrell, managing director at the IT Job Board, said the sector was seen as a "rewarding industry in which to work".
"Despite the currently gloomy predictions, the IT sector also appears to be holding up well to the newly-tough economic climate," he added.
Mr Farrell stated that there had been more applications to the site this year, compared to last year.
A separate survey, by Research in Motion, has found that young girls are interested in technology but feel the IT industry is too geeky to work in.
