People are not using their mobile phones for managed emails services or to access the internet as they are concerned about running up large bills.
According to the Mobile Data Association (MDA), the number of people using their mobile to access the internet has risen by 25 per cent in the past two years, reports PCAdvisor.co.uk.
However, the group said many consumers are still reluctant to use the services due to the costs involved.
Steve Reynolds, chairman of the MDA, told the website a "greater price transparency on the costs associated with using the mobile internet" is needed, adding that many people are "confused and concerned about the costs".
The MDA has predicted if this transparency occurs a 20 per cent rise in mobile internet use and use of managed email services will occur.
CNET, a technology website, has recently reported being able to access the internet on mobiles will become essential to businesses in the future.
