Remote or home workers present a risk to the IT systems of businesses, according to business executives.
A survey found that 91 per cent of top IT bosses say there is a bigger risk of data being exposed when networks are made available to remote workers, or external workers, like contractors.
Despite this 94 per cent have already, or plan to, allow access to remote workers, despite almost 90 per cent thinking it will result in a higher threat of malicious content.
Reginald best, the chief operating officer at AEP Networks, said: "On the one hand, IT is rightly under pressure to open the network door to partners, suppliers and customers to improve efficiency and enhance business processes.
"On the flip-side, they're sweating over how to prevent unauthorised access, protect company information and deflect malicious attacks."
In addition, a survey by Cisco shows that 62 per cent of IT bosses will be increasing their security spending over the next year, with 58 per cent of people in the UK also opting to, reports Computer Weekly. |
