The rising cost of electricity id threatening the IT industry, with the UK having some of the highest rates in Europe.
By tracking the changes in the cost of data centre and electricity costs across Europe, the data centre price tracker can asses the changes over the past three months.
Margrit Sessions, the managing director of Tariff Consultancy, which conducts the tracking, said: "Industrial electricity prices are the clear and present danger to the Data Centre user and the IT community."
"It is now being presented as a separate cost item to the purchase of Data Centre space," she added.
Ms Sessions added that suppliers are taking advantage of the space in data centres and are charging higher rates for this.
The price of the space has increased to an average European price of 800 euros (£630) per rack per month, with it reaching 1,000 euros in UK, Ireland and Switzerland.
It was recently revealed that almost half of all IT professionals say they are running out of room in their datacentres.
