The University of Exeter has chosen to improve its managed ethernet structure with the help of Juniper Networks.
According to the provider, the university will cut down on operational costs by following the installation of is MX-series ethernet services routers and SSL VPN platforms, CBR Online reports. The managed ethernet system will also include integrated security gateway firewall/VPN/intrusion prevention platforms as well as EX-series ethernet switches.
Head of networks at the University of Exeter Roger Snelling described Juniper's Junos system as "proven".
"Its ease of integration with other technologies will enable Exeter to deliver high-performance networking to its users," he told the news source.
Juniper added its SSL VPN will verify security status and user identity, while the overall managed ethernet infrastructure will mean web surfers can connect to the university website using gigabit-per-second links.
Managed ethernet services were also recently adopted by the All England Lawn Tennis Club at Wimbledon.
