The number of people adopting VoIP is set to continue increasing, potentially leading to more leased lines being sold.
More solutions providers are choosing to sell VoIP or unified communications products, according to recent research, reports CRN.com.
The Everything Channel's 2008 State of Technology: Networking survey found 40 per cent of solutions providers are now offering unified communications services, with 13 per cent planning to offer VoIP in the near future.
Robert Keblusek, senior vice president of business development at Sentinel Technology, told the website: "VoIP is not just for transport. Customers are asking what they can do with distributed applications across the internet."
The website reports the need for low-cost business services and the increased productivity they offer is driving managed VoIP uptake.
According to Express Computer, uptake in WAN technologies is also expected, with small businesses showing more interest in having a leased line linking remote offices and branches.
