UK enterprises are increasingly making use of managed IT outsourcing to meet their data warehousing requirements, it has been revealed.
A study of 100 UK firms carried out by IT services provider Sentrum indicates 43 per cent of companies already outsource managed data centre space and 28 per cent of these have done so for the first time in the last twelve months.
In addition, 35 per cent of those surveyed currently not outsourcing managed data centre requirements plan to do so in the future.
Chief executive of the group Andy Ruhan said: "In today's market with financial pressures facing many firms, now is just the right time for outsourcing to become this season's business essential."
Earlier this week, industry analyst IDC claimed managed IT outsourcing will remain protected from global financial turmoil.
Research carried out by the group suggests demand for IT support services is expected to suffer in the economic crisis although managed IT outsourcing is predicted to remain relatively unaffected.
