Augmented reality technology could cause a seismic shift in the way video conferencing systems are used around the world.
According to Zugara, a company specialising in the fledgling technology, it has been working on a fast and easy-to-use shared webcam based around augmented reality technology and a prototype is already available.

Writing for Read Write Web, Marshall Kirkpatrick said: "Though hundreds or thousands of Augmented Reality products hit the market last year and a handful have been widely seen - many people still doubt the utility of this technology."
However, he added that Zugara seems to be taking a fresh approach to the technology and its products could easily make their mark in the world of online shopping when high bandwidth connectivity becomes commonplace.
Mr Kirkpatrick concluded: "The ability to view and interact with information placed on top of the world around us represents an important way that the internet will be interacted with in the future."
